So we’ve been here three weeks but that’s long enough for visitors to stop us to ask questions. And what’s the number one question we’ve been asked? “I’m sorry but I’m not too sure how to figure out the parking?” For you old timers, this may seem odd but that was the first thing we thought when we got here. The most confusing parts are the areas where you pay for a numbered space. I must say the idea is brilliant. Let’s say you pay for one hour at a spot and leave in 20 minutes. The next person pays for an hour and leaves in 20 minutes, and so on. You could be paying on a spot that is currently being paid for by several others. But let’s not quibble. This money goes into the city coffers and helps contribute to the upkeep of the city, CARTA, etc. Oh and by the way, walking is still free, good for you, and good for the planet. Think about it, won’t you? Thank you.
If anyone knows a website that can authoritatively deal with all the parking in Chattanooga from simple explanations of the meters to when parking is free, please let us know.
